SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION vs. PAY PER CLICK

July 1st, 2010

Since the internet can reach the global market, it is always wise to create a website that features your products and services. However, like the real world, you will be competing with other businesses with the same line as yours in attracting potential customers. Since Internet users often use search engines to look for what they want, the different search engines are always considered as the battlefield and getting to the top of the search list is the major price. This battle was never been easy, thus, different internet marketing strategies are formulated to give you an edge in being visible to the World Wide Web. Among the most popular internet marketing strategies are Search Engine Optimization, Pay- per- click, and link exchanges. These techniques, if done right, can place your website in good advantage on the search engine positioning. For one to know what internet marketing strategy will work best, a good knowledge on the pros and cons of search engine optimization and pay- per- click will be helpful.

When you opt to go for Pay- per- click advertising, you would be paying for the website traffic. Search engines have programs where you get to bid for keywords that are commonly used by an internet user. Your website’s ad link will then be displayed in sponsored search results. When an internet user clicked your ad link, you will be paying the search engine for that visitor. On the other hand, Search Engine Optimization is technically free, if you know how to do it right. Using different search optimization techniques like keyword densities, correct HTML tagging, etc., the link of your website will naturally get to the top of the search engine’s list, thus you wouldn’t have to pay the search engine for the number of clicks your link generates.

Search engine optimization may be technically free, but it is not easy. It would take weeks to months before you can see your website on top of the search engines’ search results. Because of that, you would expect that profit will be low on the first few months. However, when it get to the top of the list, the profit will keep on coming and you will just need to maintain or improve the search engine optimization techniques you are using to keep you on top of the list. If you do not know how to do search engine optimization or you would want to remain on top, it is best to hire search engine optimization specialists that can do the job for you.

Pay- per- Click advertising does provide more visitors and more website traffic because of the instant exposure on search engines, thus faster profit can be achieved; however, it may not always be the best choice for some businessman. First, it is more expensive than search engine optimization because you will be paying the search engine for every click and second, you do not have a guarantee that all of those who click your link will avail your products or services.

So, if you are looking for a good internet marketing strategy, you may want to do the math and figure out which one works best for you. A search engine optimization that is cheaper but slower result or a Pay per Click advertising which is expensive but can provide faster exposure. The choice is yours!

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION USING KEYWORDS

June 30th, 2010

Search Engine Optimization is an effective internet marketing strategy used world wide. There are a lot of ways to have a website search engine optimized, but the most widely used strategy is keyword stuffing. Having right keywords in your website is just as important as its content. You would need the right keywords or set of keywords to naturally rank in Google.com, Yahoo! Search, Bing.com, and other search engines.

You would first need to conduct a keyword research so you would know the commonly used keywords a prospective client utilizes when looking for a specific website. There are free Internet tools that you can use to find out the commonly used keywords, however there are also some tools can be used for a minimal fee. If you get to know the commonly used keywords, use them on your website.
Originally, Search engine optimization is done by strategically hiding keywords all over a website to trick search engines, however this technique has been discovered thus this does not work anymore. If you want a search engine to put your website on top of their list, you will need to use the keywords relevantly to avoid getting de-indexed by the search engines.
You may still place keywords in the Meta tags in your website’s HTML code; however they might not be the most effective search engine optimization technique anymore. The placement of keywords really depends on the type of website you have. Search engine optimization technique for a web 2.0 website may not always have the same process in optimizing a blog type of website.
It is advisable to use the keywords in the entire website’s content; this is especially effective when they are placed in the first sentence of the first paragraph, because the exact keywords will appear bold when it has been typed in by the user, word per word.
Keyword density is also a factor in search engine optimization, search engine optimizers – search engine optimization specialist – often disagree on the density of the keyword in a webpage. Some experts say that two percent (2%) is enough while other will prefer to have as much as ten percent 10%. But generally, you would want to have enough keywords in your content so that search engine will find your website relevant to be placed on the top of its list but you would not want to fill it with too much keyword that the reader might not understand the content anymore. Balance is the key to the success in doing search engine optimization using keywords.
